Healthy Plant Worm Farm

Adding Life To The Soil

We specialize in manufacturing soil  amendments that are designed to promote healthy plant growth by using environmental friendly methods. Our products are derived from organic food waste and other natural sources that are diverted from landfills. Thus reducing the amount of emissions that are contributed to climate issues, and extending the life of our landfills. We use millions of worms to convert this waste into a nutrient rich compost. The vermicompost, and the worm castings are a rich organic fertilizer and biological amendment. It helps retain water, provides biology and nutrients for the soil and plant. All while preventing disease and protecting plants from pest.

Cost

The cost of composting with Healthy Plant Worm Farm is determined by the frequency of pickups, and the size of your bucket. A 5 gallon bucket picked up weekly is $6 per week. Our service is year round. As soon as you sign up we will let you know your pickup day and deliver you a bin and instructions. We will replace it at every pickup.

What Size Bucket Do We Need?

Selecting the right size of curbside bin or cart is essential for efficient waste management. Consider your household's unique needs, average households typically generate around 5 gallons of food waste per week, while larger families may require a 10-gallon bin. Choosing a bin that is too big can be cumbersome to move and store, while a smaller one may lead to overflow on collection day. Aim for the perfect size that aligns with your waste generation to make your recycling and composting routine hassle-free.

What To Compost With Healthy Plant Worm Farm?

Our service is designed for food waste collection, but we accept yard waste as well in the bucket. A basic guideline for what to compost with us: any veggies, fruits, greens, any parts of plants, meats and bones; fresh, past due, dried, cooked, raw or processed are acceptable. If it was once living, its probably okay to compost.

We do not accept bioplastics of any kind or brand to prevent the confusion and contamination that can arise from petroleum-based plastics These materials can often resemble compostable options, leading to potential risks. Our commitment to maintaining healthy soil is paramount, and unfortunately, we lack the capacity to manage all contamination. Thank you for understanding our policy!

We do not accept contaminants such as stickers, rubber-band, gloves, twist-ties, wrappers, aluminum foil, parchment paper, plastics, metal or glass.

Our Process And Compost Products

At Healthy Plant, we transform your food scraps into nutrient-rich vermicompost, returning a complimentary 1/4 gallon bag valued at $10 after every 4 pickups. This premium compost is perfect for nourishing your houseplants, or yard—just one cup per plant, 2-4 times a year is all you need! You can also choose to donate it to our partner community gardens. Our innovative three-step process not only supports soil regeneration and carbon sequestration but also harnesses nature’s power to combat pollution effectively.

We have a three step process, first we pre-compost the food scraps for 21 or more days through thermophilic composting that heats up to 100°-140°F. Then we feed the pre-composted material to red wiggler worms. The worms process the material further and finer and add a unique set of bacteria, hormones and enzymes through their gut action. Once worms are done munching we let the pile of finished compost cure for another 60 days and the party continues, beneficial bacteria, fungi, protozoa, nematodes, arthropods and earthworms are present in all of our living soil regenerative composts.
